Why I Added Japanese Whisky Glassware to Brooklyn Wax

From the Founder — A Personal Note on Ritual, Scent, and the Art of Slow Living
When I started Brooklyn Wax, it was never just about candles. It was about atmosphere. About the kind of moment that slows your heartbeat—the kind you want to savor. For me, scent has always been deeply tied to memory, place, and ritual. And few rituals capture that essence better than pouring a perfect glass of Japanese whisky at the end of a long day.

As someone who has spent years exploring the layered complexity of Japanese whisky—its smoothness, its quiet elegance, its reverence for process—I saw a natural kinship with the ethos behind Brooklyn Wax. Both are about intentional indulgence. Both are about elevating the everyday.
The Ritual of the Pour
When I light one of our cocktail-inspired candles, like Smoked Old Fashioned or Gin & Vetiver, I’m not just filling a room with fragrance—I’m setting a tone. That same mood carries into the act of pouring a drink. I believe glassware plays a powerful role in that experience.
The right glass adds weight, ceremony, and visual poetry to what could otherwise be a casual sip. That’s why I’ve personally selected two new glassware pieces for the Brooklyn Wax collection:
- Our Crystal Japanese Whiskey Glass Set, with its bold lines and luxurious heft, is ideal for anything from Yamazaki to mezcal.
- The Japanese-style Tree Pattern Glass, etched with a delicate winter tree design, is perfect for whisky, sake, or even as a sculptural tealight holder.
Each one reflects the values that built this brand: design-driven, sensual, and grounded in craft.
A Natural Extension of Our World
You might be wondering: why would a candle company sell glassware?
Because Brooklyn Wax was never about just wax. It’s about curating an environment. The same hand that reaches for a wick also reaches for a pour. These glasses are meant to sit beside our candles—to catch the flicker, to reflect the mood, to hold the spirit of whatever you’re drinking.
And practically speaking? Our candle vessels double beautifully as tealight holders. These glasses, too, are multi-functional. They’re not just for whisky lovers (though they’re a dream for them). They’re for anyone who appreciates tactile beauty and emotional design.
A Toast to What Comes Next
This is just the beginning. I’m excited to continue expanding the Brooklyn Wax universe in ways that stay true to the original mission: to craft immersive, elevated experiences that appeal to the senses.
To everyone who has supported us so far—thank you. You’ve helped turn a single candle into a whole ritual. And now, a beautiful glass to go with it.
