The Kiri Hand-Blown Tulip Nosing Glass is a stemmed tasting glass made for neat whisky. Each one is blown by hand, so dimensions vary slightly between pieces. Capacity: approximately 4.4 oz (130 ml). Height: 200 mm (7.9 in). Rim: 39 mm. Base: 65 mm. Material: glass. Care: hand wash only. Available with a smooth bowl or a fluted one. Sold individually.

The shape is doing three jobs at once. The wide bowl gives the whisky room to open. The neck pulls that down to a 39-millimeter opening, which gathers aroma instead of letting it scatter. Then the lip flares back out, so the whisky lands on your tongue rather than shooting to the back of your throat.

Every one is blown by hand at the furnace — gathered, shaped, drawn out into that long stem, then flared at the lip while still hot. Hand work leaves its evidence. Hold two side by side and the bowls sit a millimeter or two apart. That's the process showing, not a flaw.

The stem matters more than it looks. At 200 millimeters, your hand never touches the bowl. Body heat is the quiet enemy of a slow dram, and a tall stem is the oldest fix there is.

Two finishes. The smooth bowl disappears around the whisky. The fluted one carries vertical ribs, so it picks up candlelight in narrow bright lines.

Built for Japanese single malts, though any neat pour worth sitting with will do. Light the Woodstock candle beside the fluted version — the ribs catch the flicker, and the palo santo sits under the whisky rather than crowding it.

Common Questions

What does hand-blown actually mean here? Each glass is shaped from molten glass at the furnace rather than pressed in a machine mold. It's slower, and it's why no two are dimensionally identical. Expect a millimeter or two of variation in height and bowl width between pieces.

Why does it have such a long stem? So your hand stays off the bowl. Body heat warms whisky faster than most people expect, and warm whisky pushes more alcohol vapor at your nose. The 200 mm stem keeps the pour at the temperature you poured it.

What's the difference between the smooth and fluted versions? Only the bowl surface. Both share the same profile and hold the same measure. The smooth one is quieter; the fluted one has vertical ribs that catch light.

Is 4.4 oz too small? No — it's sized for a tasting pour. A standard measure is one to two ounces, and the space above it is where aroma collects. For a highball or anything over ice, use a rocks glass.

Can I put it in the dishwasher? Hand wash only. The stem is thin and the bowl is fine-walled. Warm water, mild soap, air dry standing up.
